Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) unveiled Electric Tiller

Electric Tiller has been unveiled by CSIR and DSIR at Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMRI) in Durgapur, West Bengal.

Recently, the Electric Tiller has been unveiled by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) at the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMRI) in Durgapur, West Bengal.

About Electric Tiller

  • The electric tiller has been developed to meet the requirements of small to marginal farmers who constitute more than 80 per cent of the country’s farming community.
  • This electric tiller will be used for various agricultural operations in less than 2 hectares of land owned by the farmer, thereby greatly reducing the operational costs.
  • Its main objective is to achieve net-zero emissions and promote eco-friendly agricultural practices.
  • The electric tiller has better torque and field efficiency which also prioritizes farmer convenience and environmental sustainability. It greatly reduces hand and arm vibrations, and operates with zero exhaust emissions compared to conventional ICE tillers.
  • With the potential to reduce operational costs by up to 85 per cent, its user-friendly design supports battery pack swapping and offers multiple charging options including AC and solar DC charging.
  • This tiller is seamlessly integrated with a wide range of standard agricultural implements such as ridgers, ploughs, iron wheels and cultivators.
  • It is equipped with a 2-inch water pump and a trolley attachment capable of lifting up to 500 kg.
  • Featuring electronic controls and ergonomic handling, operators can easily navigate it across fields to minimise hassles and maximise productivity.

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
