Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘Sprint Challenge’ during the Naval Innovation and Indigenization Organization (NIIO) symposium ‘Swavalamban’ in the national capital New Delhi. The challenge has been unveiled with an aim to promote the use of indigenous technology in the Indian Navy. This collaborative project is named Sprint {Supporting pole-vaulting in R&D through Innovations for Defense Excellence (iDEX), NIIO and Technology Development Acceleration Cell (TDAC)}.
As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to achieve PM Modi’s goal of ‘Self-reliant India’ in defence, NIIO in collaboration with Defense Innovation Organization (DIO) has introduced at least 75 new indigenous technologies/products to the Indian Navy. The seminar was organized by Naval Innovation and Indigenization Organization (NIIO) and Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM).
About the seminar:
- A two-day seminar was organized on 18-19 July, 2022 to engage Indian industry and academia towards achieving self-reliance in the defense sector.
- The seminar provided a common platform for leaders from industry, academia, services and government to come up with ideas and recommendations for the defense sector.
- There were sessions dedicated to innovation, indigenization, armament and aviation.
- The second day of the symposium witnessed the approach of the government to the Indian Ocean region in line with SAGAR’s vision.
